Recreational and competitive events alike are offered in most states, so whether participants compete for the fun of it or as the first step to their Olympic dream, there’s something for everybody in the State Games.  The national event is hosted every two years and each year State Games medal winners (gold, silver, bronze) qualify for the biennial event.

In preparation for the Keystone State Games and the upcoming participation in the United States Figure Skating Association’s National Solo Dance Series competitions, Gloria trains 12 hours a week on-ice, takes ballroom dance lessons and is personally trained by Mark Cuviello, owner of FitnessRX in Easton, Maryland for core strength, agility speed and endurance training. While it may look effortless, ice dancers need exceptional strength and stability to perform precise edge work in their routine’s. FitnessRX helps Gloria perfect her needed skills in a knowledgeable and safe environment and Mark’s 30 years of experience in fitness enhances Gloria’s need for maximum muscular development and prevention of injury through his off ice training. Gloria plans to compete in six skating sanctioned by the US Figure Skating Association’s Solo Dance Series in hope of qualifying for the National competition held in September 2015 in Lansing Michigan.

While competing at the National State Games in Nebraska July 28-August 2, 2015 would be an exciting event, Gloria is registered to compete in the National Solo Dance Series at the prestigious 83rd Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships on July 30th.
